Bianca Chillemi, an eclectic pianist, is a conductor, recitalist, and vocal coach with a passion for voice, musical theater, and contemporary repertoire. Founder of the Ensemble Maja, dedicated to 20th- and 21st-century music for voice and ensemble, she explores this rich repertoire with instrumentalists and singers. She has collaborated on prestigious opera productions: Voyage à Reims (Rossini) at Royaumont, Iliade l’amour (Betsy Jolas) at the Cité de la Musique, Trois Contes (Gérard Pesson) in Lille and Rennes, and Like Flesh (Sivan Eldar) in Lille and Sonntag aus Licht (Stockhausen) at the Philharmonie de Paris with Le Balcon. She also participated in Jungle (J.C Feldhandler) in Limoges and Bordeaux. Recently, she worked with TM+ in Massy and performed Gougalon (Unsuk Chin) with the Intercontemporain ensemble. Winner of the 2024 Académie des Beaux-Arts prize awarded to Georges Aperghis, she is recognized for her commitment to contemporary music. With the Maja Ensemble, she won first prize in 2023 at the Jean-Claude Malgoire springboard of the Atelier Lyrique de Tourcoing, for her show Birds, a musical theater show bringing together György Ligeti and Peter Maxwell Davies.
