Trained at the Cours Florent and then at the Conservatoire National Supérieur d'Art Dramatique, Damien Bigourdan then undertook voice training. In 2013, he received First Prize at the Stockhausen Kurses de Kürten for his interpretation of the role of Michael, which he reprised in Donnerstag aus Licht in 2018 at the Opéra Comique. In 2015, he sang Theseus in Jonathan Dove's The Monster in the Labyrinth under the direction of Simon Rattle at the Aix-en-Provence Festival. Since then, he has sung in a wide variety of repertoires: Canio in Pagliacci, Turiddu in Cavalleria Rusticana, Luigi and Rinuccio in Il Tabarro and Gianni Schicchi, the title role in Gounod's Faust, the solo tenor in Stravinsky's Noces, and the Brazilian in La Vie Parisienne directed by Christian Lacroix in 2021. Between 2015 and 2019, he participated in three of Hervé's operettas staged by Piero Weitz with the Palazzetto Bru Zane. He also sang Alfredo in La Traviata, directed by Benjamin Lazar, between 2016 and 2018. In May 2019, he sang Guillot de Morfontaine in Massenet's Manon, conducted by Marc Minkowski at the Opéra Comique.

Since 2010, he has been a regular guest at Le Balcon. He sang the Tanzmeister and Scaramuccio in Strauss's Ariadne auf Naxos, Schoenberg's Pierrot Lunaire, Aleksandr in The First Murder of Arthur Lavandier, and directed Peter Eötvös's The Balcony at the Lille Opera, and Stockhausen's Samstag and Dienstag at the Philharmonie de Paris.

He taught drama at the Cours Florent from 2007 to 2015.
