Clotilde Lacroix

Clotilde Lacroix is a musician devoted to creation, musical theater and performance on period instruments. With Le Balcon, she participated in the cycle of Karlheinz Stockhausen's Licht operas at the Philharmonie de Paris. She created with Damien Pass the cycle Légendes for cello and voice by Arthur Lavandier at the Opéra de Lille. She participated in the operas by the same author, La Légende du Roi Dragon and Le Premier Meurtre as well as the recording of a free adaptation of Berlioz's Symphonie Fantastique (Alpha Classics). She notably accompanies Barbara Hannigan and Julie Fuchs in Gérard Grisey's Quatre chants pour traverser le seuil. More recently she performed Pierrot Lunaire by Arnold Schönberg, Olivier Messiaen's Quartet for the End of Time directed by Nieto and created Bogotá, a recital for cello and electronics at the NoConvencional Festival. Clotilde is a member of the HANATSUmiroir ensemble, which regularly programs her solo. In chamber music, they collaborate with the Haute Ecole des Arts du Rhin in Strasbourg and the universities of Austin, Texas, and Joao Pesoa in Brazil for the development of mixed music creation. Clotilde won the 32nd Fnapec competition and the Atelier lyrique de Tourcoing 2023 with the Maja ensemble. With them, she performed at the Présence and Musica Festivals as well as at the Théâtre de l'Athénée in Paris and at the ENS Paris Saclay. Clotilde collaborates with the Miroirs Étendus company in An Index of Metals by Fausto Romitelli at the Milano Musica Festival as well as at the Théâtre des Amandiers and the Odéon, Théâtre de l'Europe in La Réponse des Hommes by Tiphaine Raffier, set to music by Othman Louati. Jean Bellorini's The Game of Shadows on a text by Valère Novarina (TNP Villeurbanne) and Paul Claudel's The Announcement Made to Mary directed by Yves Beaunesne with Judith Chemla on music by Camille Rocailleux (Théâtre des Bouffes) are among the decisive experiences in her discovery of the theatrical world. As a founding member of the string sextet The Hague String Variations, Clotilde has performed in the Netherlands at the Konzertgebouw, Muziekgebouw, Grachten Festival Amsterdam, Tivoli Vredenburg, Kamermuziek Festival Utrecht as well as on television and radio in programs such as VPRO Vrije Geluiden and Radio4 NL. Clotilde has been invited to play with the Rottardam Philharmonic, the Nederlands Kamerorkest and has been part of the Philharmonie Zuidnederland. Since completing her Master's degree at the Royal Conservatory of The Hague and training with Anner Bylsma at the Amsterdam Conservatory and David Simpson at the C.R.R. in Paris, Clotilde has cultivated her interest in performing on period instruments, which has led her to perform regularly with the Insula Orchestra and La Tempête. Clotilde has trained with Valérie Aimard, Lluis Claret, and Bernard Greenhouse, as well as Peter Cropper (Lindsay Quartet), Hatto Beyerle (Alban Berg Quartet), and Vera Beths (L'Archibudelli).
