Jenny Daviet

An imposing theatrical presence and natural musicality have established French soprano Jenny Daviet as a versatile talent with an eclectic repertoire.
This season will highlight her commitment to the French repertoire. She will first perform Léna in Camille Saint-Saens's The Yellow Princess at the Tours Opera with the Palazetto Bru-Zane, then Princess Angélique in Hervé's Les Chevaliers de la Table ronde at the Avignon Opera. Jenny will also make her debut as Héro in Berlioz's Béatrice et Bénédict under the baton of François-Xavier Roth at the Cologne Opera (Germany), before returning to the role of Léna at the Théâtre de Tourcoing. She will not, however, neglect the German and contemporary repertoire, making her debut with the Balthasar-Neumann Ensemble under Thomas Hengelbrock in Brahms's Ein Deutsches Requiem, as well as with the Orquesta y Coro Nacionales de España in Ligeti's Requiem.
A former member of the Rouen Opera ensemble, Jenny has had the opportunity to build a diverse repertoire that includes, among others, Blonde (Die Entführung aus dem Serail), Serpetta (La finta giardiniera) under Andreas Spering, Pamina (Die Zauberflöte), the Second Woman (Dido and Aeneas), and Micaëla (Carmen). In 2016, Jenny made a remarkable debut as Mélisande (Pelléas et Mélisande) for Malmö Opera, in a new production directed by Benjamin Lazar and conducted by Maxime Pascal. This role debut was unanimously acclaimed by critics following the release of the DVD by BelAir Classiques.
Highlights of her young career include Messiaen's Poèmes pour Mi with the Symphonieorchester des Bayerischen Rundfunks under the direction of Kent Nagano, the role of Clorinda in Rossini's Cenerentola at the Hamburg Staatsoper, the four soprano roles in George Benjamin's Into the Little Hill at the Teatro del Canal in Madrid in collaboration with the Teatro Real, Pierrot Lunaire for the Rouen Opera, Mozart's Grande Messe in C minor conducted by Claire Gibault, Claude Vivier's Bouchara for the Kölner Philharmonie, and Fauré's Requiem for the Rostropovich International Festival in Moscow under the direction of Kazuki Hamada.
In recital, Jenny has sung extensively with Les Siècles and François Xavier Roth, with programs featuring Stravinsky, Delage, Mozart, Offenbach, and Debussy. She regularly performs with pianist Alphonse Cemin for numerous recitals, specializing in repertoire from the very late 19th to the early 20th centuries in France and Germany.
Equally at home with contemporary repertoire, Jenny has premiered Fernando Fiszbein's El Hombre que amaba a los peros for the Teatro Colon in Buenos Aires in recent seasons and collaborates regularly with Le Balcon.
Jenny Daviet began her musical studies as a pianist at the CRR in Poitiers, before joining the Conservatoire à rayonnement régional de Paris under the direction of Laurence Equilbey.
