After starting music at the Harmonie de Meaux (drums) and at the Chelles Conservatory (percussion), François-Xavier Plancqueel studied with Frédéric Macarez and Catherine Lenert at the Conservatoire à rayonnement régional de Paris (2001-2009), before entering the Conservatoire national supérieur de musique et de danse de Paris in the class of Michel Cerutti (assisted by Florent Jodelet, Daniel Ciampolini, Nicolas Martynciow and Benoît Cambreling), where he obtained his master's degree with honors in 2014. Second solo percussionist at the Orchestra of the Saint-Étienne Opera-Theater (2011-2015), founding member of the Maes-Trio (percussion ensemble), member of the ensemble Le Balcon, directed by Maxime Pascal, he was part of the French Youth Orchestra (2008-2009), the Gustav-Mahler-Jugendorchester (2013) and the Lucerne Academy Orchestra (2014). He has replaced in orchestras such as the Orchestre de Paris, the Orchestre national de France, the Orchestre de l’Opéra de Paris, the Orchestre national de Lille, the Orchestre de l’Opéra de Rouen Haute-Normandie, Les Siècles, the Ensemble intercontemporain. He joined the Orchestre national de Lyon in 2015 as second percussionist.
