Le Balcon - Ghislain Roffat

Born in 1986, Ghislain Roffat has just completed his studies at the CNSM in Paris. He received his prize, first named with unanimous honors, as well as the Léon Leblanc Special Prize. This earned him an invitation to perform in recital by the Vandoren Society at the International Clarinet Congress (Clarfest) in Assisi, Italy. His musical career began at the St Etienne Conservatory in the class of Hervé Cligniez, where he earned a gold medal in clarinet, chamber music, and a distinction in the professors' prize. He then perfected his skills for two years in Paris in the class of Bruno Martinez. Then, he entered the CNSM in Paris in the class of Pascal Moragues and Jean-François Verdier. He then took advantage of the structure to enrich his experience around the instrument by studying, in particular, period instruments with Eric Hoeprich and bass clarinet with Jean-Noël Crocq and then Alain Billard. Subsequently, he attended Michel Arrignon's Masterclasses and performed as a soloist with various orchestras (OLC, Orchestral Ensemble, etc.). Ghislain had the opportunity to be invited to perform with leading orchestras such as the Orchestre de Paris, the Orchestre Philarmonique de Radio France, the Ensemble Intercontemporain, and the Opéra National de Paris. This allowed him to play under the direction of conductors of international stature: Pierre Boulez, Philippe Jordan, Susanna Mäkki, Peter Eötvös, etc. Very committed to the chamber music repertoire, he is a winner of the FNAPEC international ensemble music competition with the Octalys ensemble. His exploration of the contemporary repertoire led him to join the Le Balcon ensemble, where he collaborates with the most talented composers of the new generation. Passionate about teaching, he holds the Certificat d'aptitude de clarinet. He teaches at the Maurice Ravel Conservatory (CMA13) in Paris and at the György Sebök International Academy. Ghislain is also a winner of the Moulins International Competition, a Meyer Foundation scholarship holder, and plays Buffet-Crampon clarinets.
