Joséphine Besançon

Clarinetist Joséphine Besançon approaches music through a wide variety of repertoires. After studying clarinet and bass clarinet at the Conservatoire National de Musique et de Danse de Paris, she joined several chamber music ensembles. She is a member of the Ensemble Maja (a troupe of instrumentalists and singers) and the Ensemble Ecoute (specializing in contemporary creation), and for several years the Saxback Ensemble (a wind sextet). She regularly collaborates with various symphony orchestras (Orchestre Philharmonique Radio France, Orchestre National de Lyon, the Symphonie de Poche, etc.) and contemporary music ensembles (le Balcon, Ensemble Miroirs Etendus, the Lemanic Modern Ensemble, etc.). She also participates in various projects combining music and the stage (operas, puppets, theaters). In 2022, she founded the Compagnie des Fantasques in Lyon, which focuses on musical theater. She is currently pursuing jazz training at the ENM in Villeurbanne and in June 2024, she founded the FELSENMEER quartet, selected this year among the finalists of the Jazz Migration program.
