Le Balcon - Julie Brunet-Jailly

Julie Brunet-Jailly began learning the flute at the Grenoble Conservatory. She continued her studies at the CNR in Boulogne-Billancourt with Céline Nessi, at the CRR in Paris with Claude Lefebvre, and then at the Conservatoire national supérieur de musique in Paris with Pierre-Yves Artaud. There she met Pierre Boulez, with whom she worked on the piece …Explosante-fixe…. It was at the conservatory that she met Pedro Garcia Velasquez, who invited her to participate in the first concert at the Balcon, on November 17, 2008. She has since participated in numerous productions of the ensemble, including Ariadne auf Naxos (Strauss) at the Théâtre de l'Athénée, Professor Bad Trip by Romitelli on Radio-France, and more recently Donnerstag aus Licht and Samstag aus Licht by Stockhausen. She played the character of the Black Cat Kathinka during the Dance of Lucifer. She is also a member of the ensemble L’Itinéraire, which allows her to deepen her knowledge and practice of spectral music trends. During her career, she has played in various orchestras including the Paris Opera Orchestra, the Strasbourg Philharmonic Orchestra, the Orchestre des Pays de la Loire, and attended the academies of the Ensemble Modern and the Lucerne Festival, which allowed her to work with prominent musical figures such as George Benjamin, Peter Eötvös, Heinz Holliger and Sir Simon Rattle. Passionate about transmission, she also devotes herself to teaching; after obtaining her Certificate of Aptitude for Professor at the CNSM in Paris, she now teaches at the Conservatoire du XIVe arrondissement in Paris.
