Matthias Champon

Matthias Champon is a trumpeter and full professor at the PEA (Parisian Teacher Training College). After studying classical literature (Hypokhâgne, Khâgne) at the Lycée Fénelon, he obtained a First Prize in trumpet from the city of Paris as well as a degree in musicology at the University of Paris IV Sorbonne. He studied trumpet at the CNSMDP, in the class of Clément Garrec and Pierre Gillet, where he graduated with honors in 2006. In 2010, he also obtained his Certificate of Aptitude for Teaching. He currently teaches in Paris at the Conservatoire Maurice Ravel (CMA13) and taught for twelve years at the Conservatoire Gustave Charpentier (CMA 18). He has initiated numerous educational and outreach projects in these conservatories, and also with the association Le Tréteau, which he co-founded and which promotes access to artistic practice for all. Matthias regularly performs with major national orchestras, including the Paris Opera Orchestra, the Orchestre de Paris, and the Radio-France Philharmonic Orchestra. He is an active member of the Cbarré and Ars Nova ensembles, and a regular guest of Instant Donné, TM+, L’Itinéraire, the Ensemble Intercontemporain, and Musicatreize. With Le Balcon, Matthias has participated in numerous projects since 2009, including The First Murder, The Balcony, The Threepenny Opera, and the operas of the Licht cycle.
