Maxime Morel

Maxime Morel began his musical career with the tuba, or rather with its little brother the saxhorn, at the age of 10. He joined the Conservatoire de Lille, where he worked with Gabriel Capet to obtain a prize in Tuba and Saxhorn. In 2008, he entered the Conservatoire National Supérieur de Musique de Paris in the class of Gérard Buquet, and obtained a Bachelor's and Master's degree in Tuba, a Bachelor's degree in Chamber Music in the class of Jens McManama, and a Prize for Generative Improvisation in the class of Alexandros Markeas and Vincent Le Quang. Very early interested in the orchestra, he participated in the French Youth Orchestra from 2009 to 2011. And was able to perform with different orchestras such as the Orchestre National de France, the Paris Opera, the Ensemble Intercontemporain, the Philharmonic Orchestra of Radio France, the Orchestre National des Pays de la Loire, the Orchestre National d’Ile de France, the Orchestre National de Bordeaux Aquitaine, the Orchestre National du Capitole de Toulouse, the Orchestre National de Lille. With conductors such as Daniele Gatti, Myung-Whun Chung, Alain Lombard, Josep Pons, Emilio Pomarico, or David Zinman. During his time in Lille, he was able to meet and work with Olivier Benoit and joined “La Pieuvre” then the Muzzix collective with which he participates and develops different projects, from solo to large orchestra including trio. Since 2011, he has performed regularly with the Compagnie voQue/rebotier company in shows combining music and poetry, and has played in festivals such as the Amadeus Festival and the Berlioz Festival. As a soloist, he has performed at La Rose des Vents in Villeneuve d'Ascq, at the Festival le Classique c'est pour les Vieux in Paris, at the Ircam Manifeste Festival in Paris, and at the Mikromusik Festival of the Berliner Künstlerprogramm of the DAAD in Berlin. His curiosity for creation, experimentation and improvisation has led him to take part in various projects with the ensemble Le Balcon, the WARN!NG collective and recently the Collectif Spat'Sonore. In 2022, he joined the Ensemble MusikFabrik.
