Michiko Takahashi

Michiko Takahashi is a singer and graduate of the Tokyo University of the Arts. Since 2009, she has been developing her career in France while remaining deeply attached to Japan, enriching herself with her travels and experiences to discover and share her passion for music. Recognized for her interpretations of oratorios and sacred music, she collaborates with renowned early music ensembles such as Stradivaria and Le Parlement de Musique. At the same time, she is very active in the field of contemporary creation. Regularly invited by Le Balcon, she notably performs Stockhausen's Sonntag aus Licht at the Philharmonie de Paris, and participates in ambitious productions such as Fils de l'Homme – Revelo III, a work by Marco Suarez-Cifuentes directed by Nieto. She also joins Les Cris de Paris in several projects such as Héptameron, Dafné, Passions and L'ailleurs de l'autre. The 2025–2026 season will mark her third participation in Stockhausen’s opera Licht under the direction of Maxime Pascal, with an appearance in Montag scheduled for November at the Philharmonie de Paris. In January, she will be appearing at the Théâtre des Bouffes du Nord in Une Messe, a creation by Lorraine de Sagazan. Her artistic commitment extends to collaborations with composers such as Aurélien Dumont, Jérôme Combier, and Marco Suarez-Cifuentes, and to innovative multidisciplinary projects alongside directors such as Benjamin Lazar, Aliénor Dauchez, Nieto, and Aurélien Bory. In this context, she has been invited in 2024 by the Sasakawa Franco-Japanese Foundation to present an exceptional concert entitled Will the moon die? Since 2018, she and Japanese lutenist Akiko Sato have formed the duo TamaHibi, which performs concerts throughout Japan, sensitively exploring repertoires from the Baroque to contemporary music. For Michiko Takahashi, every musical adventure is, above all, an encounter, a sharing, and a human adventure.
