Born in São Paulo, Rodrigo Ferreira lives in Paris, where he works with Christiane Patard after training in 2007 at the Higher Department for Young Singers created by Laurence Equilbey (CRR de Paris). He has sung under the direction of Gustav Leonhardt, George Benjamin, Kazuchi Ono, Susanna Mälkki, and Franck Ollu, in venues such as the Grand Théâtre de Bordeaux, La Folle Journée in Nantes, Salle Pleyel, the Opéra Comique, Cité de la Musique, Opéra Bastille, Grand Théâtre de Provence, Opéra de Lille, the Aix-en-Provence International Festival of Lyric Art, the Périgord Noir Festival, and the Lyon Opera. He collaborates closely with harpsichordist Ronan Khalil, founder of the Ensemble Desmarest, who was in residence at the 2012 Ambronay Festival, where they performed together, as well as at the Pavia Barocca Festival and the Théâtre des Bouffes du Nord (John Blow's Ode on the Death of Mr. Henry Purcell, Sances' Stabat Mater, Vivaldi's Cessate, Omai Cessate and Stabat Mater, and Dowland and Purcell's Songs). They will be seen in recital at the Lille Opera next season.

A HSBC Laureate of the International Academy of the 2012 Aix-en-Provence Festival, he participated in the premiere of Oscar Bianchi and Joël Pommerat's Thanks to My Eyes, and George Benjamin and Martin Crimp's Written on Skin (directed by Katie Mitchell). He will return to the Aix Festival for Cavalli's Elena (conducted by Leonardo Garcia-Alarcón). A regular performer of contemporary repertoires, in spring 2012 he created the title role in Marco Stroppa’s opera Re Orso at the Opéra Comique (cond. Susanna Mälkki, m.s. Richard Brunel, Ensemble Intercontemporain) which was revived at the Théâtre Royal de la Monnaie in Brussels in 2015. He will premiere Catherine Kontz’s opera Neige at the Théâtre de la Ville de Luxembourg (cond. Gerry Cornelius). With the ensemble Le Balcon, he has taken part in several operas and concerts: Le Marteau sans Maître by Pierre Boulez, De la Terreur des hommes by Arthur Lavandier, Avenida de los Incas 3518 by Fernando Fiszbein, Le Poème-Battu by Michaël Lévinas and Gherasim Luca. He also created Antii Puuhaara by Tapio Tuomela (dir. Roland Hayrabedian, Ensemble Musicatreize), Sin Numéros and Arder-Aprender by Antonio Juan-Marcos (dir. Pierre Roullier/Jean-Philippe Wurtz) and with the pianist Alphonse Cemin gave the first French performance of the cycle The Lover in Winter by Thomas Adès as well as a recital at the Lille Opera (Lieder de Strauss, Les Mirages by Fauré and Les Ruckert Lieder by Mahler). He will have “at the last minute” joined the stage of the Lyon Opera to play Albin during the creation of Claude by Thierry Escaich and Robert Badinter (dir. Jérémie Rhorer, m.s. Olivier Py).
In the Baroque repertoire, he plays Ritornello in Florian Gassmann’s Opera Seria (conducted by Raphaël Pichon, with Benoît Benichou as director), Hail Bright Cecilia and The Fairy Queen by Purcell (Secrecy, Summer and Mopsa), Judas in Schutz’s Matthäus-Passion (conducted by Michel Laplénie, Ensemble Sagittarius) and frequently performs in concert in the Stabat Mater of Pergolesi, Vivaldi and Sances as well as the Passions, Cantatas, Masses and Magnificat of Bach. He will be seen next season at the Auditorium de Bordeaux with Sagittarius (German Cantatas) and in recital at the Festival du Périgord Noir with organist Paul Goussot (Broschi, Händel, Porpora). In 2008, at the invitation of Pierre Bergé, he sang Vivaldi's Stabat Mater at Yves Saint Laurent's funeral at the Saint Roch Church in Paris. In concert, he sings solo alto in Bernstein's The Lark (conducted by Laurence Equilbey) and Chichester Psalms (conducted by François Grenier), Stravinsky's Noces (conducted by Maxime Pascal), and with the Ensemble Parisien symphony orchestra (conducted by Alexis Roy): Farnace in Mozart's Mitridate, Arsace in Rossini's Semiramide and Tancredi.

As a passionate performer, Rodrigo has performed numerous shows since 2006 with the theater-dance company Le Théâtre Décomposé (conducted by Éric Durand): Épouvantail(s), Soixante, Le Fil, and My Friends Are Gonna Be There Too. The contemporary dance company C’Interscribo (Tatiana Julien): Eve without a leaf & the fifth rib of Adam, Death and Ecstasy, and took part in Robyn Orlin’s latest creation: Babysitting, Tête de Cire, at the Palais des Beaux-Arts in Lille.
