Simon Guidicelli

Born in 1989, Simon Guidicelli began playing the double bass at the age of eight at the École Normale de Musique in Aix-en-Provence. In 2008, he obtained his advanced diploma unanimously with the jury's congratulations in the class of Francis Laforge. He was admitted the same year to the Conservatoire National Supérieur de Musique de Paris in the class of Thierry Barbé. He performs regularly with the National Orchestra of the Capitole of Toulouse as well as with the National Orchestra of France, the Paris Opera Orchestra, and the Montpellier Chamber Orchestra under the direction of prestigious conductors such as Tugan Sokhiev, Daniele Gatti, Philippe Jordan, Kristjan Järvi, and Harmut Haenchen. With Le Balcon, he has participated in numerous concerts and projects, including Berlioz/Lavandier's Symphonie Fantastique, Arthur Lavandier's The First Murder, Peter Eötvös's Le Balcon, and Pedro Garcia-Velasquez's Lost Places. In 2018-2019, he participated in the opera Donnerstag aus Licht. He is also in charge of producing projects for Le Balcon and Le Poème Harmonique, for which he is currently the artistic coordinator.
