Le Balcon's musicians invite you to discover the many charms of the wind quintet through the ages. From the early 19th century, two pieces by Rossini – including the lively overture to The Barber of Seville. A century later, other tales emerge: those from Ma mère l’Oye. Inspired by Perrault and Marie-Catherine d’Aulnoy, this charming suite brings to life the Beauty, the Beast and even Laideronnette, Empress of the Pagodas… Originally written by Ravel for two pianos, it finds new life when performed by wind instruments. Finally, a different era and different vibrations, those of the late 20th century, with an excerpt from the pioneering Stockhausen in which the flute engages in a dialogue with electronics.
