Like flesh draws on the great founding tale of Ovid's Metamorphoses to explore the myths in which women are transformed into trees. This disturbing image resonates with current issues, particularly ecological ones, concerning questions of gender and, more broadly, our relationship with desire and sensuality. What happens when a woman, seeking to escape her husband's clutches, transforms herself into a tree? Is the forest in which she lives a refuge or, on the contrary, an equally hostile environment? Beyond this, how do we experience change and difference in the people we love? Can we learn to love nature as we love our loved ones?
