Le Balcon - Symphonie Fantastique

Hector Berlioz
Symphonie fantastique op. 14
Free adaptation by Arthur Lavandier (2013)

Commissioned by Bruno Messina in 2013 for the closing concert of the Berlioz Festival, this new version of Symphonie fantastique recounts the work of rereading a work and the challenges of interpreting the symphonic repertoire undertaken by Le Balcon since its creation. The links forged with composer Arthur Lavandier give us a glimpse of Le Balcon's essential preoccupations: instrumentation, sound/music dialogue and the historical perspective of all repertoires. This Fantastique is at once a transcription, a re-orchestration and an arrangement. It tells the story of the sound orchestra and the young history of our ensemble.
