Samstag aus Licht is Lucifer’s day: a day of death, of the dance of death, of farewell, and of the passage into the light. Written between 1981 and 1984, the opera resembles a long and mysterious prayer, structured around a prologue and four scenes dedicated to Michael’s enemy brother: his reverie, his feigned death, the dance of his face and his farewell.
