Iris Zerdoud

Clarinetist, Production Manager

Born in 1985 in Toulouse, Iris Zerdoud started playing the clarinet aged eight. She graduated at the Conservatoire Supérieur de Paris, with a Master degree in 2012.Iris has also been studying for one term at Royel College of Music of London with the clarinetist Richard Hosford. 
Iris has done several mastercalsses all over Europe to widen her perspectives and performs chamber music alongside soloists such as Jean- François Heisser, Jean-Frédéric Neuburger and Miguel da Silva.
She regularly collaborates with orchestras such as the orchestra of Opéra national de Paris, the Orchestre national de France, the Orchestre Philharmonique de Radio France.

She met the future founders of Le Balcon at the Conservatoire de Paris, and performed at their inaugural concert in 2008. Since then Iris has been work on a regularly basis with the ensemble as a clarinet player but also on the production side. She is now head of production at Le Balcon and thanks to this position she get to be in touch with a lot of promoters in France and abroad.  In 2018-2019, Iris performed for the first time an opera by Karlheinz Stockhausen, Donnerstag aus Licht. After a premiere of the production at the Opéra Comique in Paris, the production has been presented in London at the Southbank Centre. 
In 2019, she created a piece by Colombian composer Marco Suarez- Cifuentes, The Mystic Lamb, at the Athénée Theater and has been invited by the International Contemporary Ensemble (ICE)to share the stage with them during a tour in Colombia, discovering the music of Pauline Oliveiros on that occasion.

Iris is currently preparing the role of Eva in Montag aus Licht, accompanied in her process by Suzanne Stephens. The production is planned to be premiered in 2021.
