You-Jung Han is a violinist of Orchestre National de France and the soloist of the ensemble Le Balcon (dir. Maxime Pascal) since its creation in 2009.
She graduated with a first prize of violin in Conservatoire National Superieur de Musique de Paris.
She began her violin studies with Miroslav Roussine (pupil of David Oistrakh), then continued her studies in the CRR of Paris (with Igor Volochine) before entering the class of Boris Garlitsky at the CNSM de Paris, and participated in many masterclasses, including Olivier Charlier, Patrice Fontanarosa, Ida Haendel and Pavel Vernikov. She won in 2007 and 2008 international competitions Glazunov and Vatelot-Rampal. She frequently receives mentorship from Florin Illiescu, concertmaster of Frankfurt Radio Symphony Orchestra.
Her presence as concertmaster of the ensemble Le Balcon allows her to work much on the twentieth century repertoire (ex : Antheme II by Pierre Boulez, Vortex Temporum and Les Quatre Chants pour franchir le seuil of Gérard Grisey – with soprano Julie Fuchs – Le Pierrot Lunaire by Arnold Schönberg and Le Balcon by Peter Eötvös), and many operas and arrangements (Ariadne auf Naxos by Richard Strauss, the 4th symphony of Gustav Mahler, Scheherazade Nicolai Rimsky-Korsakov and Symphonie Fantastique by Hector Berlioz).
She is regularly invited by major orchestras (Orchestre de Paris, Orchestre Philharmonique de Radio France, Orchestre Philharmonique de Luxembourg, Paris Chamber Orchestra or Orchestre National d’Île de France) and has had the opportunity to play under the direction of conductors such as Myung -Whun Chung, Valery Gergiev, Daniel Harding, Neeme & Paavo Järvi, Sir Roger Norrington, Riccardo Muti, Esa-Pekka Salonen, etc.
She has been invited to festivals such as Festival de Pâques in Deauville, Festival de Cordes-sur-Ciel, Ukrainian International Biennale for New Music in Lviv, Festival Musica in Strasbourg, La Folle Journée in Nantes, Festival Paris Quartier d’Eté , Festival Mostra Sonora Valencia, Festival Presences in Paris, Berlioz festival in La Côte-Saint-André, Fêtes Musicales Festival at the Grange de Meslay …
She participated in 2015 in the creation of the chamber opera Bobba of Arthur Lavandier (created at the Philharmonie Cité de la Musique in Paris) whose book-disk is published by Actes Sud / Harmonia Mundi. She also participated in the recording of Symphonie Fantastique of Berlioz/Arthur Lavandier with Le Balcon as a violin solo.
