Mathieu Adam

Trombonist

Trombonist Mathieu Adam studied at the Conservatoire Colmar in Alsace, winning first prize at the Aulnoye-Aimeries competition in 2001. He attended the Conservatoire de Paris in 2003, studying with Gilles Millière, graduating with a Masters in 2010. He joined Le Balcon that year and became the ensemble’s solo trombone. Over the years, he has performed regularly with Le Balcon, including at the Festival Musique sur Ciel, in operas Ariadne auf Naxos, La Métamorphose and Symphonie fantastique, as well as collaborating with the brass ensemble CU2+.

In 2018 he interpreted the instrumental incarnation (trombone) of the character of Lucifer in Le Balcon’s production of Stockhausen’s LICHT cycle. He played this role in Donnerstag aus Licht in November 2018 at the Théâtre National de l’Opéra-Comique, in January this year at the Bordeaux Auditorium and in June he will perform this role in the second opera of the cycle, Samstag aus Licht, at the Philharmonie de Paris.

In January 2019, Mathieu Adam joined the orchestra of the Garde Républicaine.
